What to Do When Your TP-Link Range Extender Stops Working?

Here are some suggestions for what to do if your TP-Link range extender starts to have trouble maintaining a connection.

Case 1. The Host Router Remains Unchanged as the Extender Ceases to Function

Step 1: Consider restarting the extender and your router.

Step 2: Verify that the router can receive signals from your extender.

Step 3: Verify that nothing, including microwaves, Bluetooth devices, fish tanks, metal objects, and other objects, interferes with the range extender.

Step 4: After resetting the extender to factory settings, reconfigure it. For thirty seconds, hold down the reset button with a pin.

Case 2. When a New Host Router is Installed, the Extender Stops Functioning

You must reset the extender to factory settings and reconfigure it if the host router was recently modified. For thirty seconds, hold down the reset button with a pin.

Case 3. After Changing the Host Router's Settings, the Extender Stops Functioning

Have you recently adjusted any of the settings on your host router, like the channel or Access Control settings? You should examine and change the setting or settings to regain connection.

Other troubleshooting actions that you can perform are:

  • Update your range extender's firmware.
  • Update your host router's firmware.
  • Move the extender so that it is nearer the router.
