How to Reset My Username & Password on My Netgear Router?

Method 1: Use the Web Interface

Step 1: Open your internet browser. Go to the address bar of your internet browser and enter  http://www.routerlogin.com. In case the URL does not open up, then you are required to enter this IP address 192.168.0.1 in the URL section of the web browser and then press enter.

In case the default URL or IP address does not work, then you must use the command prompt to determine the right IP address.

  • Press the Windows key together at the same time in order to view the power user menu in your Windows version 8.1. Now, open up the command prompt utility.
  • Now to change netgear router password, after opening up the command prompt, enter ipconfig in it and then press the enter key. This way, you will be able to obtain complete information pertaining to the network.
  • Locate the IP address of the router by going to the section of default gateway. Now, enter this IP address in the address bar of your web browser.

Step 2: Enter the username and password in their respective fields. The default username is generally admin and the default password is usually 1234 or password.
