Does Netgear Nighthawk Work With AT&T? How To Connect

Have you chosen ATT as your internet service provider? If yes, then you must not settle for the mediocre speed and performance, which comes with this equipment. The best thing for you would be to choose a high-speed router like Netgear Nighthawk to access the internet.

This router works really well with Xfinity but does it work with AT&T too. In case you are wondering "Can I replace my modem with an AT&t modem?". then you have made it to the right place. In order to set it up, you need to turn on IP Passthrough or DMZplus for your Nighthawk router in the firewall settings.

Disable Wi-Fi on your AT&T gateway to connect it to the WAN port of your router to access the internet. If you wish to know how to get Netgear Nighthawk to work with AT&T internet, then read below.

How can I Set up a Netgear Router with AT&T Internet?

Step 1: First of all, you need to log into your AT&T gateway. Log into the settings by entering  192.168.1.254 in the address bar of your browser.

Step 2: You are required to connect your computer to the AT&t gateway using an ethernet cable or Wi-Fi.

Step 3: Use an ethernet cable to connect your AT&T gateway to the Netgear Nighthawk router. Run the cable from one of the LAN ports of your TA&T gateway to the WAN port of your Netgear Nighthawk router.

Step 4: Based on whether you have a PACE mode or Arris modem, you are going to see IP Passthrough or DMZPlus option in your gateway. To turn on these settings, you need to go to Firewall in the Gateway settings.

For Pace gateways, just select Netgear Nighthawk from the list of devices that are connected to the internet under apps, pinholes, and DMZ.

This connection should be the only wired connection in your list. Once you are done selecting Nighthawk, select allow applications to turn on DMZplus mode. For Arris BGW gateways, you are required to turn on the option of Passthrough. You can see this option under the firewall.

Now, you will be asked to enter the access code of your device. You can see this access code printed on your modem. After you enter the access code, choose DHCP fixed and then select your Netgear Nighthawk router. Save these settings in order to enable IP Passthrough.

Step 5: Go to the Gateway settings and then search for the Wi-Fi option. After that, disable your 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi. This will help you make sure that there isn't any interruption between the Wi-Fui signals of your Nighthawk router.

Step 6: Once you are done performing all the steps mentioned above, then you need to restart all your devices. A restart is important to bring new settings into effect.

Step 7: Personalize your Netgear Nighthawk network

Install the Nighthawk app on your computer and then carry out the instructions appearing on your screen to connect your mobile phone to a wireless network of your Netgear Nighthawk.

The default name and password of your network must be written on your router. When you personalize your network, you need to connect all the devices manually to the network.

This is how you make Netgear Nighthawk work with AT&T internet.
